Announcing Solver School

In my last post in October, I shared the news that I had started working on a project called Solver School. I’m excited to announce that the website is up and running — you can see it for yourself here. Additionally, I’m almost ready to go live with my first product, The Solver Masterclass! I am finalizing the last module this week before officially packaging up the course materials in my online training platform, but I’ll be ready to launch in the next few weeks.

I started this website two years ago as a way to share some poker analyses using data. I wanted to push myself and my poker development, and this was a way to force me into doing better and higher-quality work. I had always utilized my data analysis skills in my poker study, but never in a truly organized and strategic fashion.

At the beginning of this journey, I posted without knowing if there would even be an audience. But amazingly, the site has grown over the past two years. Such an amazing unintended positive has been connecting with so many other intellectually curious poker players from around the world who want to use solvers and data to do the same. Those interactions were pivotal in my decision to create Solver School.

In my last post, I shared very little about the specifics of Solver School. I was earlier in the process, and while I was working towards this initial product, I had little sense as to what I wanted Solver School to be going forward. The only thing I knew is that the mission of the project would have to be focused on helping people use data analysis and technology to better analyze poker scenarios and strategies.

In the past 3 months, I developed a much clearer direction. From that mission statement, I’ve organized an exciting roadmap of products that I think can attempt to do that and add value to the community.

I’m excited to share the Solver Masterclass. It’s my answer to the question “What do I need to know to become an expert at using solvers to answer just about anything poker-related?” When the course is done, it will be 9 Modules that will teach people how to properly use solvers and integrate them into their own study routines.

I start in the first module with foundational concepts that are necessary to understand to use solvers well. Throughout the rest of the modules, I sequentially build on those concepts towards some more advanced applications, such as node locking, exploitative strategy development, and mass data analysis. I know that I’m biased, but I truly do believe that this will be the best material available if you want to learn how to properly use a solver for yourself.

I wrote all about my launch plans and the course details on the Solver School website. You can also watch the promotional video teaser for the Solver Masterclass here:

Now that Solver School is live, I’m not quite sure what I want to do with this site. I don’t plan to shut it down, but I don’t have a clear vision for it at the moment. The initial purpose of this website was meant to be a place for me to share my data-driven poker exploration. But going forward, a good portion of that work will naturally move over to the Solver School website. I don’t plan to mirror my posts — that seems duplicative, and I’m not sure what benefit it would provide. I will cross-post my official product launch here, but afterward, I want to separate both places to retain proper scope.

I’m not exactly sure what the long-term plans will be, but it will definitely take more of a shift into more of a personal blog. There will definitely be an emphasis on poker — perhaps, I’ll share some of my own personal studies here. I also may write a bit about the process of starting Solver School and some of the things that go along with running a business. I do recognize that many of you signed up for my mailing list here for poker-related posts. I can assure you that anything going forward will be related in some way to poker.

I will only communicate news, product announcements, or new releases related to Solver School through my email list there. If you’re interested in signing up for that list, you can do so here.
